A timing belt, as the name explains: it is the engine part that takes care of the timing and drive of the engine. It's logical that when ordering a new aftermarket timing belt, you don't take any chances. Wilmink Engine Parts has excellent experiences with the timing belts of specialist Dayco.
Dayco is one of the world brands when it comes to distribution, including timing belts in dozens of variants. Dayco's headquarters for aftermarket products in Europe is located in Turin, Italy. Dayco is originally an American company (from Dayton, Ohio, hence Dayco) with operations on all continents, up to and including China, Australia and New Zealand. Dayco is an OE supplier to General Motors, Caterpillar and several European and Japanese car brands, including Volkswagen, Fiat, Renault, Lancia, Audi, Peugeot, Toyota and Ferrari, among others.
The developers at Dayco have over 110 years of experience; the first product launch of distribution belts in Dayco quality was back in 1970. Development at Dayco never stands still, which is reflected in their motto: Moving Forward. Always. There is a close cooperation with Wilmink Engine Parts. They themselves say the following about this at Dayco: "As a technical specialist, Wilmink is a partner that emphasises quality that exactly matches the desired technical specifications and requirements, and we are proud to meet these high quality standards with our range of products.” | |
A timing belt is constantly evolving. Especially with the increase in engine power, the belt has to meet increasingly demanding requirements. Timing belts have long been fitted ‘outside’ the engine in an oil-free environment. The disadvantage of this is that it takes up construction space. With engine downsizing, there are new developments and Dayco is considered a pioneer with a special technology. That’s a solution in which the belt is placed inside the engine and runs in oil. As a result, the material of the belt has to meet very different requirements.
At Dayco, they are constantly working on the most important conditions a timing belt should meet: the exact dimensions, producing less noise, preventing belt stretch, dealing with higher temperatures and longer life. In all that Dayco research, several innovations in the timing belt field made their appearance. Among them: the development of PTFE rubber, the high-temperature-resistant HK timing belt and the BIO (wet) timing belt.
Besides single belts, Wilmink Engine Parts also supplies complete distribution sets from Dayco. A set is put together for a particular engine and the contents may therefore vary. Think of sets with the timing belt, the tensioners, the bolts and often there is also the choice of a set including the water pump.
As an extra service to customers, Dayco has installation videos on YouTube.
It guides you step by step through the installation process, including preparation and information about the tools needed. Especially with the more complicated jobs, this is very handy. Search on Timing Belt Kit Installation and you will see the replacement of the timing belt in a Honda V6 engine, for example. This way, you can't go wrong and extend the life of the all-important timing belt. Naturally, you can always contact your regular contact person at Wilmink Engine Parts for this type of information.
